Student project: Feminist magazine cover.
As part of a lettering course, I practiced creating custom typography designed for a specific brief and concept.

I came up with a magazine concept titled Espina, which means "thorn" in Spanish.
A thorn is something natural and innate—it’s not a tool for attack, but for protection. I wanted the lettering to reflect this duality: fragility and sharpness, seriousness and creativity, without leaning into infantility.
This idea led to the sharp serifs and the letter i shaped like a thorn. Each letter is composed of two halves: one rigid and one soft/organic. To me, this perfectly captures the essence of womanhood.
